That’s right, apparently, B’s Milan Lucic’s photo hangs next to the Boss inside the Pacific Coliseum, British Columbia

The Boston Globe has an entire article devoted to the 20 year old Canadian bruiser. Check it out!

Recap of Bruins/Maple Leafs and Bruins/Flyers

30 03 2009

I hope everyone saw the game on Saturday because it was intense. The final score was 7-5 and Coach Julien had a few things to say:

“We’ve got our own issues. Just because we’re in a playoff spot doesn’t mean that everything’s OK. Our play in the last month and a half hasn’t been up to par. We need to get better in our game…So those games do mean something for us. It’s about fine-tuning ourselves and getting some momentum heading into the playoffs.”

Manny Fernandez, who let in 5 Toronto goals, tried to be optimistic where other players may blame the five day rest period (and even longer for Fernandez) for the lack of a defensive edge:

“You want to take that positively. Playoffs are around the corner. I think at that point it would be a good time to have maybe five days off and maybe rest a little bit. We’ve been hoping to turn things around and that’s the direction we’re trying to take.”

I applaud you Manny, even though you must have been praying for a good offensive line after Toronto answered every Boston goal in the first period, mostly by flukes and errors.

Goals of the night:

  • Boston: Mark Recchi had two, Chuck Kobasew, Shawn Thornton, David Krejci, Michael Ryder and Blake Wheeler all had one apiece
  • Toronto: Ponikarovsky had two for the Leafs while Mitchell, Hagman, and Kulemin had one each

……

As for the Flyers game yesterday, a late goal by Philly’s Gagne in the third (to make it 4-3 with a minute and a half to go) made for a stressful exciting end to an important win for the B’s. Now they’re seven points up with only seven games to go.

Next game is tomorrow night at 7PM against the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Garden.

See ya then!

A quiet week off…

25 03 2009

So the Bruins aren’t playing again until Saturday, so it’s a quiet week for my bloggerific writing skills…. I don’t really know what I’m going to do with myself until Saturday… Maybe I’ll actually finish my law research paper? Psh, as if! Maybe if it involved the Bs? :)

ANYWAY the The Original Six: History of the Boston Bruins DVD launch party went swimmingly last night at the Hard Rock Cafe, with appearances by the entire Bruins roster as well as alumni and the coaching staff – I wish I had been there!! Unfortunately, I could not attend, but here’s the link to the article as well as a sweet gallery of pics from the event.
